The Higher Power Within Us


The foundation for life in the new world is built on the understanding that there is a higher intelligence, a fundamental creative power or energy in the universe that is the source and substance of all existence.


在這個新世界裏，生命建立在我們瞭解存在較高的智慧體之基礎上。那是宇宙中一種基本的創造力或能量，也是萬物存在的源泉和本質。

The words and concepts that have been used to describe this power are innumerable. Here are just a few:

用來描述這種力量的字眼和概念非常之多，以下是一些例子。

• God 神
• Goddess 女神
• Higher Power 較高的力量
• Source 源泉

• Spirit 精神
• Essence 本體
• Being 本質
• Sou l靈魂

• Inner Guidance 內在指導
• Higher Self 較高的自我
• The Universe 宇宙Life Force 生命力
• The Tao 道Buddha Nature佛性
• The Light光

These terms are attempts to express an experience or knowingness that is difficult to convey in words. Each of us has this experience within us; the words we choose to describe it are merely the labels that suit us best.

我們試圖使用這些詞彙，來表達一種很難以言語形容的經驗或知道的狀態。我們每個人都有這種內在的經驗，只是我們會選擇適合自己的不同標籤來描述。

For the first twenty years of my life, my connection to the spiritual aspect of my being was largely undeveloped. I had no conscious experience of, or belief in, a higher power of any sort.

在我生命的最初二十年，我幾乎沒有開發與自己靈性層面的接觸，我從沒有意識到，也不相信，所謂較高的力量。


I have had to move through many levels of doubt, skepticism, disbelief and fear in order to arrive at the great trust I now have in the higher power of the universe that is within me and within everyone and everything that exists.

在經歷了層層的疑惑、懷疑、不信、恐懼之後，今天，我對宇宙較高的力量有強烈的信任，它存在我及萬事萬物的裏面。


Those of you who have felt deep spiritual awareness throughout your lives already have a solid foundation to build upon. For those of you who have felt spiritually “disconnected” as I have, I hope my words will support and encourage you to find this inner connection for yourself.

有些人原本在生活中，就對靈性有深厚的感受，因而有堅固的基礎。不過如果你是像我一樣，原來與靈性並不相通的話，我希望我的文字能對你能有支持和鼓勵的作用，有助於你找到你的內在聯繫。

The universe has both personal and impersonal aspects; as I surrender and trust more, I find my relationship with this higher power becoming more personal.


宇宙力量有個人化和非個人化兩個層面；當我越能臣服和信任，我發現我與較高的力量的關係變得更個人化。

I can sometimes sense a presence within me, guiding me, loving me, teaching me, encouraging me. In this personal aspect, the universe can be teacher, guides, friend, mother, father, lover, creative genius or fairy godmother.

有時候，我能感受到在我裏面，存在著一個指導我、愛我、教我、鼓勵我的東西。在此個人化的層面，宇宙力量可以是老師、指導者、朋友、母親、父親、情人、創意精靈或神仙教母。


In other words, many of my needs and desires can be fulfilled through this inner connection.

換言之，我的許多需要和渴望，都可透過這此一內在聯繫，得到了滿足。


I often find the most powerful communion with the universe when I am alone, especially out in nature.


通常，在我獨處時，特別在大自然裏，我可以找到與宇宙聯繫的強大力量。


At such times, the places inside of me that sometimes feel empty are filled with the energy of spirit.


Here I find a guiding presence that nudges me in the direction I need to go, and helps me to learn the lesson that lies in taking each step along my path.

在這種時刻，我內心偶現的空虛感，就會一掃而空，轉而充滿靈性能量。在此，我找到了我的指導靈，提示我往正確的方向走去，也在這個道路上，協助我學習踏出每一步時，所要學習的功課。
